We may know just how much the Nokia N97 is an object of desire but when you get the gadget boys over at T3 gushing about how cool it is, then you know Nokia is doing something seriously right.

T3 has put together its Top Hot 100 and Nokia has managed to bag four of the most hotly contested places in gadget land.

T3 love gadgets in all their shapes and sizes and while the guys have a tendency to gush over good looks over great usability, you can't fault their eye for detail.

So, when their annual Hot 100 hit the stands earlier today we were interested to see that Nokia smartphones had bagged four top spots, with the Nokia N97 coming in third place!

OK, this isn't quite top of the tops, but third place is pretty amazing for a phone that isn't available, let alone officially finished – so we reckon if it had been available, it would have easily taken the top spot!

So what did T3 think of the Nokia N97? Well, here's a snippet of what they said:

'A slide-out keyboard complements the 3.5-inch touchscreen display, making it the perfect mix of business and leisure. Speedy social networking updates arrive via HSDPA or Wi-Fi. location-based applications run in tandem with the A-GPS and there’s no less than 32GB of onboard memory and a microSD slot. if Nokia adds Comes With Music support, this will grind the iphone into the dust.'

Other Noks of note were the Nokia 5800 coming in at 24th, which is more than respectable for a smartphone only just over a month old. The Nokia N96 peaked at 66th, while the Nokia E71, which for some may have been a surprise entrant delivered a more than respectable 76th place. That's some pretty good going for a brace of phones that most T3 readers would see as business phones.

If you were wondering, Apple could only manage 14th place with the iPhone... oh dear...
