Last week we reported that T3 had voted the Nokia N97 the third best gadget in the world, which makes us want one even more. Prior to that we ran a story about how it stacks up against the Samsung HD Omnia. This still had us thinking that the N97 was the right choice.
Now, comes the Symbian Guru with an even better excuse for us to get excited about the Nokia N97. We'll spill the full beans, along with today's other top blog action after the jump...
Just when we thought there was nothing left to say about the Nokia N97 other than 'give me one now!' along comes the Symbian Guru with the War and Peace of why it's still the device most people will want. Covering six top reasons - Two in One, Widgets, Nokia Services, Resistive Screen, Skype Integration and Firmware Updates – we get a good look at why the Nokia N97 will rock!
For us, the two main points from this list are Nokia Services, as the Nokia N97 will be the first device to really get to grips with Ovi and deliver it straight from the box. Then there are Firmware Updates, which Nokia is reknowned for. You only have to look at what happened in New York last week to see how quickly Nokia can respond to a problem. The Nokia N97 will be here in June and for most of us, it simply can't come around soon enough.
Nokia 5800 ticks all the boxes
Let's not forget the Nokia 5800, which is the device of the minute and seems to be the device everyone is obsessed with at the moment. Over at All About Symbian, the guys have gotten under the skin of the 5800 and discovered TEN things they reckon Nokia has done right with the device. It's a good run-through and will convince most doubters that this really is a device to get excited about.
For our money, the roundup is a little hardware specific, only mentioning the OS once and never rally getting to grips with the Services Nokia is delivering with the 5800. Other than that, it's a great read.
Stuff.tv has taken the announcement of this week's Nokia event along with our story last week that Nokia may at some stage cut free of DRM in it's music files and drawn the conclusion that Comes With Music will go DRM free this week. Now, that may sound like a good idea to most of us but to our mind it seems to be moving a little too quickly.
As we mentioned previously, Comes With Music isn't yet released in the largest marketplace in the world, the United States, so it's hardly likely that Nokia will change policy before launching there? Thanks to Stuff for getting us excited though....
