Forum Nokia has announced that the Symbian S60 5th Edition SDK is now ready and available to download. So, if you're looking to develop a few apps ahead of the May launch of Ovi Store now's the time to get started.
The S60 5th Edition SDK v1.0 enables application development using C++,Standard C/C++,JAVA and Web Runtime for devices based on the S60 Platform. The SDK is based on S60 5th Edition and Symbian OS 9.4.
The SDK includes all key functionalities needed for application development (documentation, API reference, emulator etc.) excluding IDEs.
The full version of the S60 5th Edition SDK is now available and as the download page points out:
This release offers the following new features:
- The standard three softkeys in the emulator’s keypad-off display.
- Support for the Chinese, Arabic, and Urdu languages. (Support for the Arabic and Urdu languages is provided by SDK plug-ins.)
- Start-up progress indicator, which is visible when the emulator is minimised.
- A number of issues have been resolved and deficiencies removed (see release notes for details).
