Nokia has announced the Nokia 5730 XpressMusic, Nokia 5330 XpressMusic and Nokia 5030 phones as part of its 'Your Music Player Is Ringing' virtual launch. OK, so Nokia has taken us by surprise and announced three new handsets when w weren't expecting any, but we're big enough to accept our faults, especially when you see what Nokia has got lined up.
The big story is that the Nokia 5730 XpressMusic has finally gone official. This S60 phone will be with us in Q2 and while at first glance it may look like a sibling of the E75, it's very much a device in it's own right.
The Nokia 5730 XpressMusic is every bit the music phone we were expecting with
‘Say and play’ music controls built-in, as well as direct access to both Nokia Music Store and Comes With Music where available. Stick N-Gage support and a 3.2-megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics and 8x digital zoom with flash on top of that and you have a pretty darn impressive package.
The device weighs in at 135g, packed in a full QWERTY keyboard and will be made available in a choice of colours – namely, Red, Monochrome or Blue.
The S40 device of the bunch is the Nokia 5330 XpressMusic, which has got a striking design. This slider phone has gone for a clipped top, making it instantly recognisable against the other phones here.
With its 2.4-inch screen, 3.2-megapixel camera, 70MB of internal memory and Nokia Maps with A-GPS, this is a good all-round phone with many killer features you'd expect to see in more high-end devices. What's more, it takes a leaf out of the Nokia 5800's book and comes with one-touch dedicated music keys.
Compatible with Comes With Music where up and running, this phone makes the most of music and social networking for those who don't need a smartphone. The only possible fault we can see with the Nokia 5330 XpressMusic is that it won't be available until Q3 of this year.
Finally, the Nokia 5030 will also be available in Q2 but is very much an entry-level handset aimed at the prepaid market and even comes with prepaid tracking, so you can keep tabs on how much you've got left on your account.
The S30 phone weighs just 82g and comes with a 1.8-inch screen that supports up to 65K colours. Nokia claims the battery is good for 10 hours of talk-time or up to 525 hours in standby. Key features include an external speaker that offering excellent sound quality, while the instant FM button offers one-touch channel selection.
The Nokia 5730 XpressMusic, Nokia 5330 XpressMusic and Nokia 5030 round out a heady few weeks for Nokia, with each device fitting neatly into the portfolio. Later today we'll bring you more detailed facts and figures on each handset.
