Why do developers make life hard for themselves and design apps for lesser selling devices when they could go straight for top dog Nokia? That’s what you have to ask yourself with something like Vlingo, a voice application for BlackBerry and iPhones.

The developers have seen sense and are now rolling out a public beta version for Nokia devices and want you to get involved in making it a full product. See how you can get involved after the jump…

While most apps appear on Nokia phones first, and rightly so, one that slipped through the net was Vlingo, which is a voice-powered controller.

According to the company site, Slingo offers services such as ‘dialling your phone, sending an email or SMS, creating and saving a memo or task, opening a web browser and performing a web search, composing a social-networking status message and more.

The initial release for Nokia S60 devices British accents, as well as German and Spanish language recognition. It’s still in beta stage and the developers are looking for volunteers to get involved and help finetune the Nokia version.
