Ovi Store will open its doors in May of this year and will roll out simultaneously in nine countries. This was the headline news announced by Tero Ojanpera Executive Vice President, Nokia Services as part of his keynote speech at this year’s Game Developers Conference in San Francisco.

So, it seems the details on Ovi Store have been firmly set in place, join us after the jump for the full details...

Nokia has reinforced its commitment to gaming and N-Gage this week with a series of keynote speeches at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco. While we weren’t expecting anything truly new to be ‘outed’ at the show, it was a great chance for Nokia to discuss the roll of games and Ovi Store in particular.

Tero Ojanpera Executive Vice President, Nokia Services, discussed a series of topics but it was the developments around Ovi Store that were the most telling. Edge Online covered the keynote with an interesting article about the roll of developers on Ovi Store. It seems that publishers will get a 70 per cent share of any app sold, with the publishers themselves being able to set the pricing structure.

Edge Online quoted Ojanpera as saying ‘You can buy stuff, upload many different things, and best of all, you can see what your friends have uploaded and where they uploaded them from’, this all bodes well for Ovi being more than just a store and a meeting place for all Nokia users.

It seems that while N-Gage will have maintain its own portal and won’t be a part of Ovi Store, free games will be able to be uploaded and distributed on Ovi Store, which is something we weren’t aware of. We've already discussed what Ovi Store needs to succeed, but it seems that Nokia is on the right track.

Ovi Store is set to open its doors in May of this year and will roll out simultaneously across nine countries to start with. Nokia will launch Ovi Store in the UK, Italy, Singapore, Germany, Australia, Spain, United States, Russia and Ireland.

With the Nokia Developers Forum a matter of weeks away, it seems the focus is starting to shine on Ovi Store.
