Last year Nokia launched a competition for designers to come up with a design for a Nokia Bluetooth Headset. So far, so normal, but the spin with the Nokia Music Almighty Headset Competition was to base the design on a top tune or favourite piece of music.
The competition pulled in over 7,000 entrants with some of the designs a little more functional than others. Nokia has now had the winning five deisgns turned into fully working headsets. Check them out when the record jumps…
The Nokia Music Almighty Headset Competition set the challenge of designing a Nokia Bluetooth headset based around a song or piece of music. With over 7,000 entries and an open vote to decide the winners, the competition can be judged a cracking success.
Speaking of judges, the competition closed earlier this year and the winners were chosen by a panel including Eddi Yip, Dick Powell, Tej Chauhan and Felix Buxton from Basement Jaxx.
The winning design were:
‘I’m Flying’ designed by Rodshakur, based on the R Kelly’s track I Believe I Can Fly
'Graveyard Shift’ designed by Johnny Lighthands, based on Michael Jackson’s Thriller
‘Free Willy’ designed by Maria Ceconda, based on Michael Jackson’s Will You Be There
‘Robot Rock’ designed by G Smith, based on Daft Punk’s Robot Rock track
‘CF Flex’ designed by Mr G, based on Dark Metal by Rufige Kru

Interestingly, the headsets will go display at the Nokia Regent Street Flagship store in April. We’re looking forward to going along to the exhibition and checking the designs out for ourselves – all in the name of research obviously.
