Nokia has officially announced a major update for the Nokia 5800 that the company is stating will deliver:
- Faster user interface and faster download times
- New camcorder features: second camera support for still image capture in addition to video calls, burst mode that allows people to take multiple pictures one after another without needing to repress the picture taking button
- Mobile Dictionary: built-in dictionary functionality with voice playback of words utilizing text-to-speech technology, support for 38 languages
- Application Update: with Application Update people can check for available updates for applications and update them directly in the device. Applications can also be kept up-to-date by setting the checking to automatic.
As with any update on the Nokia 5800, we'd advise you to make a complete backup of the device before running the update software.
We're currently installing the update on our Nokia 5800 and will bring you a more detailed update when we've tested it out.
UPDATE: OK, so we were as stumped as everyone else when this update wouldn't take place on our 5800. That's because it had already been done! Seems this is indeed v20 that was leaked on the internet a month or so ago but has now gone official from Nokia.
