Nokia has announced its third Near Field Communication (NFC) device in the form of the Nokia 6216 classic. If you're not sure what NFC can do for you, it's the technology that allows you to pay for things simply by waving your phone in front of sensors.
The Nokia 6216 first made an appearance this time last year. However, there are a number of differences with this model, namely included SIM.
Near Field Communication (NFC) technology allows you to pay for things simply by waving your phone in front of sensors. The Nokia 6216 is also the first to come fitted with its own SIM card, bringing NFC that much closer to the mainstream.
The Nokia 6216 classic isn’t the first NFC (Near Field Communication) phone from Nokia, and is in fact the third but it is the first to come fitted with the SIM card. You’ll still be able pay for train tickets, drinks and snacks wirelessly by waving the Nokia 6216 classic near a payment spot. However, with the inclusion of a SIM card it means you'll be able to transfer all your credit card details to the SIM and keep them securely locked away.
While it's no cutting-edge smartphone, the Nokia 6216, which has been unveiled at the WIMA conference in Monaco, the Nokia 6216 classic comes with a 2-megapixel camera, FM radio, microSD expansion and 3G so it's a fairly rounded decent little phone.
The Nokia 6216 classic will cost 150 Euros (£130) when it ships in the latter half of this year.
