Nokia E55 interface revealed

With the launch of the Nokia E75 and the imminent arrival of the Nokia N97, it seems easy to forget that we're also looking forward to the Nokia E55 this year. While there has been no news of a launch date, it seems the interface is shaping up nicely. Take a look and see or yourself.

The Nokia E55 will be the smallest Nokia messaging device so far when it finally launches and will come with a host of features to make life on the move a whole lot easier.

We're looking forward to seeing what ticks under the aluminium casing and as Nokia is claiming an even easier to use interface and emailing experience from this phone, we reckon this will be the Nokia E71 killer.

Check out the tech spec for the Nokia E55

We're still some way away from seeing the final hardware but the Symbian Guru has managed to get his hands on a few screenshots of the Nokia E55 interface using  Forum Nokia’s RDA system. As the Guru points, out, he's not seen the Nokia E55 but the emulator is a way for developers to make the most of the device 'virtually'.

Check out some of the interface shots for yourself:

Very disappointed that Nokia actually removed the Phonebook (Contacts) key and also the Bluetooth key.

Now we have a phone without a phonebook key. Can you imagine that?

I was planning to upgrade my E51. Now I have to wait for the E56 or something.

BTW, the idea of a semi-querty was real cool!

The phonebook in the E Series has been undergoing changes, though its final direction was never clear. Up to current generation of E71 or E51, they have tried to pack everything into it – groups, window live (chats) and even conversation (SMS). The result was kinda of confusing on user interface and really bad responses when you have a loaded list of contacts and SMS.

On the other hand, Nokia have also implemented the direct contact search which has been indispensible. The feature will search for and suggest the contact as soon as you start typing on the key / number pad. Access to the contact you are looking for is extremely quick and efficient. This is really the best way of finding people and I believe (and perhaps Nokia too) it renders a delicated the need of a delicated PhoneBook key much less useful. I can attest to this bcos I almost never use the PhoneBook key on my E71.

But you can always program the soft and hard buttons on the phone to bring up the phonebook if you like. You may even prefer the Ovi Contact as the replacement when it graduates from the Betalabs (or has it ?)

BTW Ramzy, The contacts button is the bottom right of the screen. Blue tooth is on turned on when you keep the \"sym\" key held down…and for silent mode, excluding alarm function is when you keep the \"shift\" key down and visa versa to turn off.

This phone is brilliant and I dont miss my BB at all!!
