Nokia E71 with 5-Megapixel camera anyone?

The Nokia E71 seems to be one of those smartphones that seems to be going from strength to strength, Selling over 10 million units in the second half of last year alone, it could well turn out to be Nokia's best selling smartphone of all time.

Interest in the Nokia E71 seems to be surging at the moment with the release of the Nokia E71x in the United States. However, would sales be enhanced further if the camera was upgraded to 5-Megapixels? Read on to find out the full facts...

The Nokia E71 is essentially a business-tool, aimed at those who need quick access to email – both for receiving and sending – but the compact size, sheer build quality and ease of use have made it a firm favourite with everyone not just mobile workers.

Along with interest in the Nokia E71x in the United States for this device's recent release seems to be a rumour that the Nokia E71 is about to get an upgrade to a 5-Megapixel camera. This would certainly give the camera a more cutting-edge boost that many people are looking for. What's more, there is already a name for the device - the Nokia E71i.

The rumour also suggests that the upgrade wouldn't only be based around a new camera size but would move the device to S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 2, offering a whole host of new software options.  The story is very much still a rumour at this point and we may need to wait until the Nokia World 09 in September before we see the full facts for ourselves.

So, the question is, would you be tempted to try the Nokia E71 for the first time if it came with a beefed-up camera and if you already own one, would it make you upgrade? We'd love to hear your thoughts in the Comments below.

I already own an E71, and yes, a 5 megapixel camera would definitely make me upgrade!

I currently own an E71-1 and would not upgrade to a new model with 5MP camera and FP2. IMO, FP2 has too much eye candy (no use for it- for example, transitions). This new model with 5MP camera and FP2 does exist (E72).
