There seem to be an increasing number of Symbian S60 browsers out there offering different ways of getting content on to your Nokia smartphone. The latest addition to the lost is Ozone, which brings with it a full page rendering engine that is intended for use on S60 3rd Edition devices, making it perfect for the Nokia E71? Check out the full details on Ozone S60 browser after the jump...
When it comes to offering a fast and efficient browser what you need are speed and accuracy. After all, simply grabbing a page and dumping it on a small screen simply doesn't cut it. Ozone is a browser that is still in the early stages of development but it's proving a rather popular browser.
What makes this browser different from Opera Mini say, is that it doesn't rely on compression or leaving data out to get faster load times. Ozone is s full-fat browser that loads everything, in exactly the same way your desktop client would. Is this a good thing? Well, download the software and see for yourself.
Ozone apparently delivers features such as client-side database support, application cache, zooming and multiple windows, but also provides the best web-standards compliant experience that's available.
We've not had a chance to check it out yet, but the guys over at All About Symbian have spent a little time with Ozone and found the rendering engine to be reasonably fast. The main complaint seems to be a less than polished UI but as this is still a Beta app, there is still work to do done.
Their sum-up says it all really 'Ozone runs wells on S60 3rd Edition phones and those with older devices will particularly welcome the speed boost.'
For an even more indepth review, the guys over at WAP Review have done some pretty serious speed tests, that is well worth a read.
Ozone 0.9 supports Nokia S60 3rd Edition phones running both Feature Pack 1 and Feature Pack 2, so can be used on a wide variety of Nokia phones.
