The Nokia N86 8MP made its first appearance back in February at the Mobile World Congress exhibition in Barcelona. Since then things have been a little quiet – we're not even sure of the release date – but it's a device a lot of people are looking forward to.

The Nokia N86 8MP consists of an 8-Megapixel sensor that allows for images of up to 3280 x 2464 pixels to be taken. It comes with Carl Zeiss Tessar optics and third generation dual LED camera and video flash.

The guys over at UK Mobile Phone Blog have managed to get their hands on a pre-release sample of the Nokia N86 8MP and have put the camera through its paces. They reckon the Nokia N86 8MP 'does an excellent job in delivering natural colours without looking washed out.'
However, what we liked most about their write up was the description of low light photos - 'for low light conditions, as well as variable aperture, the dual LED flash also comes into its own. The flash found on the N86 is the most powerful of its type found on a phone and comes close to matching a Xenon flash commonly found on stand alone digital cameras.'
The site has some cracking photo samples too – compare them to the recent shots we touch on the Nokia E75 for real comparisons – so it's worth checking out.
