Nokia Image Exchange Lite for Nokia S40 phones

Nokia Image Exchange is an experimental image sharing service that Nokia is developing that allows you to openly share images between phones. It's intended for anyone with an always on data connection and is signed up to the service.

It's still in development stage but the Beta Labs guys have now rolled out a version that supports Symbian S40 devices.

The S60 version of Nokia Image Exchange only appeared in December of last year, highlighting how quickly something found on high-end devices can quickly be implemented on more mainstream models. As the guys over at Nokia Conversations see it, the introduction of Nokia Image Exchange Lite is all about Nokia's continued 'trickle down effect, bringing top-end tech in at the top of the foodchain but quickly working it down into more mainstream models.

Nokia Image Exchange Lite is intended to be an image uploading and sharing utility instead of a gallery application but even so, it offers many of the same functions found in the S60 version. It can be used over Wi-Fi or Over-The-Air (OTA) connections and automatically includes your Contacts, and  registers you with an account when you begin. The first time you use the service is a little slow, as it needs to generate thumbnails of all your images but after that you'll see Nokia Image Exchange Lite will run faster.

What do you think, would you be tempted with a S40 phone over an S60 device? Or are you already using one? Let us know in the Comments below.
