The guys over at Nokia Conversations have posted a lengthy and really interesting piece about the development of Nokia Homescreen design, especially in regards to the Nokia N97.

It seems Nokia has carried out a great deal of research about the way people use and interact with their Homescreen, hence the 85 per cent stat, and this research has been used to help make the most of the screen on the upcoming Nokia N97.

The main message seems to be the ability to embed widgets and tools on to the Home page to help you get the most personalised experience from your phone. This all makes sense, after all, if you're going to spend all that time with your Homescreen you want it to be all about your life.

Research took the Nokia development team around the world asking and observing how people use their phones, which has helped them develop a whole range of new ways for users to interact with their Nokia. The Nokia N97 may well be the first time Nokia has used this research but we hope it's not the last, as getting more from your phone's Homescreen is something that appeals to everyone.
