Nokia Messaging Version 1.1 has been in circulation for the last couple of months on the Nokia 5800 but this was very much a beta version that was still being worked on. Well, it seems the guys at Nokia Beta Labs have listened to all the feedback and agreed that Nokia Messaging is now an official release for the Nokia 5800. Check out the full details after the jump...
The Nokia 5800 can now take full advantage of Nokia Messaging and can be downloaded from the Nokia Messaging website. If you're already using the beta version and find that it's working fine for you, then you don't need to download the version on here. However, if you're having any issues then it's suggested you get the latest version and install that.
You can read the full announcement over at the Nokia Beta Labs blog.
It's not only the latest version that Nokia Beta labs have been talking about, as they've also let slip what we can expect in the next version of Nokia Messaging. The next version is expected this summer and amongst the changes we can expect will be HTML support, which is top of the list of most requested changes.
Then there will be a Homescreen integration that will also deliver message notification. As we noted last week, users tend to use the Homescreen for up to 85 per cent of their time on any device so getting it right is important. Support for APN Destinations is another point that is being working on, and we may well see a change to the interface.
