Nokia N900 Tablet spotted early?

The Nokia N97 is about to launch but people are already thinking about what could well be the 'next' flagship device, the Nokia N900 Tablet. Last week, we brought you news of the Maemo OS that is being developed for the next-gen of Nokia smartphones, tablets and even a netbook. This week, it seems people overlooked the fact that the Nokia N900 had been shown off as long ago as last October! Join us after the break for the full facts...

It seems the Nokia N900 Tablet is out there in the wild, at least it as been in presentation form. A story popped up on Engadget over the weekend reporting to be screen shots of a Nokia N900 buried in the back-end of a presentation for the N Series last October.

In many cases, this is merely a white version of the Nokia N810 tablet, and far from the latest rumour that the Nokia N900 Tablet will use the Nokia N97 as a starting point, by delivering a 3.5-inch touchscreen and full QWERTY keyboard.

However, fear not, it seems this is something as a non-story, as the Nokia N900 is merely an Art Student design concept. Engadget has been contacted by the guys over at the Maemo project and informed that it's merely conceptual and bears little or no resemblance to what will be the Nokia N900, or 'Rover' device.

This isn't the first time an Art Student concept had got people a little excited. Earlier this year we brought you some pretty amazing ideas for the Nokia E97.

So, what do you think? Is this likely to be an art project, or are we seeing what is basically an intent to produce a Nokia N900 Tablet? Let us know what you think in the Comments below.
