Ever wondered whether your smartphone can as they say, take a lickin' and keep on tickin'? Well, it seems the Nokia N97 can be added to the list of devices designed to cope with being treated a little rough. Find out how the Nokia N97 can survive a fall after the jump...
Nokia make their phones to last, we all know that. We've personal experience on bouncing our two-day old Nokia 5800 down the stairs without a scratch or a dent. However, this is a mass market phone designed with a tough life in mind.
What about the Nokia N97? This smartphone is intended for high-end users who know how to look after their devices, or do they? The Nokia Experts have posted a story how their test unit of the Nokia N97 went for a trip of its own, bouncing from pocket, out of the car and onto a tarmac road.
Now, this is a scary thing to happen at any time but when you're still getting to grips with a new phone, this is almost heart stopping. Luckily, the Nokia N97 picked itself up, dusted itself down and carried on as if nothing happened! The result was one tiny little dent that the photographic proof seems hard to pick up - see the picture for yourself.
OK, it turns out this was just a 4-foot drop, which isn't exactly using the device for extreme sports but we're not about to repeat the experience with our Nokia N97. What it does highlight is that the Nokia N97 is tougher than its pretty looks would have us imagine and is a great example of how Nokia naturally adds that 'built to last' idea into every phone.
