The Nokia N97 has officially gone on sale in the UK and is available at all Nokia flagship stores, as well as at airport terminals, up and down the country.
It's not only the flagship Nokia N97 that has gone on sale this morning, as the Nokia 6700 classic, as well as the Nokia N86 8MP have also gone on general sale. However, there was only one device in mind for those in the queue this morning - Nokia N97!
Nokia has chosen to let the quality of the Nokia N97 smartphone speak for itself, as the launch of the new flagship device was far more subdued than the queue and fanfare that ushered in the Nokia 5800 earlier in the year.
There was a queue forming from 7.30am outside the Nokia Store on Regent Street in London, we know as we had someone down there spying, with people keen to be the first users in the UK to own a Nokia N97. However, we spoke to Nokia on Wednesday when presenting the Search for N winners with their prizes and were informed then that the launch would simply be in-store and not a national campaign.
The big question that was being asked when we were in the Nokia Store wasn't so much whether buying the Nokia N97 was an option, that was a given, but whether it was a Black Nokia N97 or a White Nokia N97 that was likely to be the phone of choice. Almost, 4-1 in-store from the people we spoke to, said White!
The Nokia N97 costs £499 (inc. VAT) SIM free and will be exclusive to Nokia Stores up and down the country for one week. From the 26th June it will be offered by a whole host of operator, including 3, Orange, T-Mobile, Vodafone, Carphone Warehouse and Phones 4U, and be available on a wide range of price plans.
