Nokia recently gave us EIGHT Nokia N97 smartphones to give away as apart of their Search for N campaign. The lucky winners received their prizes before the official launch and have been busy getting accustomed to the how the Nokia N97 works, and hopefully how much it's changed their lives. Here we look at how a couple more winners have got on with the Nokia N97....
Remember the Search for N competition from a few weeks back? It was a chance for eight lucky NokNok readers to be the first people in the UK to get their hands on a Nokia N97. The winners received their prized Nokia N97 devices the other week but we've been back in touch them to see how they're getting on with the devices.

We thought it would be good to get back in touch and see how they are finding things. This is a great opportunity to get some feedback from real world users. We asked them what they liked. Loved or hated about the Nokia N97 and got some great feedback.
We asked Andrew Clarke, from Cheshire, whether he was happy with his winning device. He got back in touch to tell us, 'Yes I'm happy with my N97. I've used it for about a week now no problems. The screen can be a bit glitchy sometimes but that should be fixed with future firmware updates, I hope!
I do find myself polishing it every day, which is why they included the cloth because the stainless steel finish does tarnish too easily. The only real problem I've had is finding a decent case for it, currently using an old MP3 player case which doesn't really fit too well.
The camera is great even better than on my N95 8GB even though its the same, pictures seem clearer on the N97 screen same with videos too. The screen also makes web surfing easy and more accessible due to the touch screen. Apple have a lot of catching up to do even with there so called 'new' iphone. Overall, the best phone I have ever owned by far, well done to Nokia! The question is: what can Nokia possibly do to top this?'
Some great insight and comments from Andrew but it was Mathew Pannell, from Surrey, who has given us the most detailed review of the Nokia N97 to date.
'It's amazing, absolutely perfect in all its uses, there's a few niggles to get used to, some required changes but basically its a fantastic phone, so well designed, great hardware quality and the operating system works great too, some of the fears people suggested about the slowish processor are not a problem at all, occasionally you might get a second lag in opening something but that's it, as long as you don't leave applications open its fine. I've spent the past day thinking up pros/cons and just going to mention a few of my key points.
Camera: amazing, used it today out at Thorpe Park and perfect crisp pictures, had shots with direct sunlight, came out great, shots of coasters in motion came out perfect too. As a related point the photo browser on the device isn't great, bit glitchy opening up and doesn't feel that great running. I downloaded the Nokia Photo Browser from Nokia Beta Labs and its fantastic, works so well, displays the photos in such a great way, it actually encourages you to show people photos on the phone, really nice.
Maps: The map application on the device isn't that good either, bit slow and isn't that great to use, which is a shame as the A-GPS is great. I downloaded Google Maps and it's fantastic now, used it today for directions to Thorpe Park, was as good as a sat-nav so will certainly be using it for that. the reception is great too, sat in house with housemate on his Nokia N95, both loaded maps, his couldn't get a great GPS signal, the N97 got 5 satellites so they've evidently made great improvements in that area.
Music: not much to say really, great crisp sound out of my creative earphones and even the speakers are really great, at the highest volume settings bit fuzzy but to be expected. The music player on the device is good though, nothing too special and the widget for the music player is great.
Keyboard/touchscreen: at first the buttons were a bit small for my thumbs, i found i was pressing 2 keys every time i pressed something, after week of use that barely happens now, you really get used to the slight response you get to pressing the keys, still have the occasional double tap but i would say even if you have large thumbs you'll find it easy to use. The touchscreen is also great, capacitive may have been nicer but this is certainly the best resistive touch I've ever used, the tactile response is great, occasionally my fingers are too big to scroll or press things properly but I've still never had to use a stylus on it.
Internet: Very nice and quick, the scrolling is nice too, on my housemate's Nokia N95 its agony, with both the touchscreen and directional pad its easy on this. I switch between the supplied browser and opera mini at the moment as am still torn between the two but in terms or general usage it was great, the widescreen is great for viewing pages, even non-mobile ones.
Battery: Originally a worry, after charging it a couple of times its great, i use the phone quite intensively with messaging, camera and music and the battery usually lasts about 2 days on single charge. The camera power use was my biggest worry since i plan to use this to replace my 7-Megapixel digital camera, after using the camera on this for a week its a more than adequate replacement, the power use is very minimal, taken about 60 pics and 5 mins of video today and its still reading 5/7 bars full.
Applications: Biggest problem. phone comes with a few little programs on it, some are OK, most are just clutter, the Ovi Store is not great at all, its very cumbersome to navigate and worst of all there's barely anything there so there's not much point using it. I went on to find some themes, there was nothing of any use, pretty much everything worth having of the few things on there cost a few quid which i guess isn't much but if they want people to start using the store they need a lot more content there, a lot more. I went over to the google mobile site and downloaded maps and got the Photo Browser from Nokia Beta Labs. Otherwise everything works fair enough, it just feels like there's such potential with the widget Homescreen and everything and they're wasting it because of a lousy store.
That's about all i can think of really. In summary this is such an amazing phone, whether its worth £500 is questionable but that's just because £500 is a lot of money even for all the combined uses of this phone. For messaging its perfect, not just the keyboard but even using the touchscreen for a quick reply is quick and easy, for general picture taking its amazing, easily as good as having a digi-cam on you all the time and the battery can certainly take the camera use without draining in minutes, music and maps are great too, the phones onboard ~29GB is excellent, taking all 14GB of my music and the rest now is for photos.
Also the phone is the perfect size to carry around, its big enough to use properly due to the huge screen and well-designed hinge and keyboard, yet its thin enough to feel slim when holding as a phone and small enough to fit in jeans pocket comfortably, i had a 6300 before this and the phone is only slightly larger in each dimension, barely noticeable to carry around. In short Nokia have created a fantastic phone, its been very well thought out, everything feels natural and intuitive, the application support from Ovi is the only weak link i can find, if Nokia can get more applications going the phone will certainly be a great success, its superior to the iphone in every way (except applications) and I've been recommending everyone to get one.
Oh, and the build quality is everything you'd expect from a Nokia, feels indestructible. was worried about hinge but as soon as i started using it realised how strong it is, been sitting sliding it back and forth for a week and its still just as responsive as the day I opened it.'
There you have it, some pretty insightful comments from all our winners. We'd like to take them all for letting us know how they've been getting on with the Nokia N97. You have to admit, it's quickly becoming the must-have Nokia smartphone.
