The Nokia Surge has been announced in conjunction in the US with service provider AT&T and seems unlikely to ever appear here in the UK. This QWERTY smartphone seems to take everything the Nokia E75 has to offer but gives it a consumer spin. Check out what the Nokia Surge has to offer after the jump...

At first glance, the Nokia Surge looks like a high-end Nokia E75 and has been released in the US in association with service provider, AT&T. However, rather than being a business phone, this device is being pitched as the ultimate social messaging package in your pocket. It delivers full 3G capabilities and with a slide out QWERTY keyboard and 2.4-inch (320 x 240-pixel) display, this is pretty much the same device as the E75.

When it comes to extra features, the 2-Megapixel camera may be a little basic but it can record QVGA-quality video. The Surge also comes with GPS built-in, microSD slot with support for up to  8GB of memory, Bluetooth and even a media player and FM radio.

The Nokia Surge is being pitched as the device perfect for those who like to stay connected whether using IM, text or email, sending multimedia messages, AT&T Video Share, or updating and connecting using your favourite social networks – this means YouTube and Twitter comes as standard. This is all built around JuiceCaster, which is an app that allows users to share videos and pictures from their wireless device to the Web's most popular sites including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Flickr.

The Nokia Surge costs $129.99 USD and comes with a mail-in rebate receive 50.00 USD AT&T Promotion Card. The bad news is that we're never really going to see this device in the UK, as it's under contract to AT&T.

So the question is, would you be tempted by something along the lines of the Nokia Surge, or is it better waiting for the Nokia 5530 XpressMusic, which is thought to be shipping in the next couple of months? Let us know what you think in Comments below.
