Exciting times, folks - Nokia has just pulled the wrappers off a brand new handset, and it's focussed on messaging. The Nokia 6760 slide is its name, and it shares quite a bit with the Nokia Surge that touched down State-side last week: it's a QWERTY-toting smartphone with a 2.4-inch screen, designed to keep you in touch with your contacts via IM, email and social networking services.
Nokia Messaging comes as standard, as well as Mail for Exchange and Message Reader. On the IM front, there's Windows Live Instant Messaging and Google Talk, and there's access to Facebook, Twitter and MySpace too.
Features-wise there's a 3.2-megapixel camera (as opposed to the Nokia Surge's 2-megapixel snapper), A-GPS with 3D landmarks and terrain mapping, and a microSD card slot capable of supporting 8GB of storage (a 2GB card comes in the box). Battery life runs to a whopping 500 hours standby, and five hours talk time.
The Nokia 6760 slide will hit Europe in the third quarter of this year, probably in black, red and white colour finishes. No UK price has been announced just yet, but elsewhere it will be €199 (currently £170) before taxes and subsidies.
