Nokia 5800 gets 30.0.011.C02.01 firmware update
By admin on July 28,

Nokia has unleashed a brand new firmware update for the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, bringing email notification to the homescreen. What does that means for 5800 users? Well, it means that all that high-resolution space in the bottom half of the homescreen is finally being put to good use!

The update may be already available over-the-air for some Nokia 5800 XpressMusic product codes (we imagine this OTA availability will roll out over all product codes eventually), but you can also grab it manually via the Nokia Software Updater utility.

The update is officially entitled 30.0.011.C02.01, which is still a little way off the 31.0.0.15 version we brought you some news on back at the end of June. So the question is: have Nokia ditched the 31.0.0.15 update in favour of this one, or is there yet another firmware update for the Nokia 5800 on the way?

We also recently heard a rumour that Nokia was working on adding kinetic scrolling and camera improvements in an upcoming 5800 firmware update - so we reckon there are more free upgrades coming to Nokia's touchscreen media mobile in the not-too-distant future.

We haven't received the firmware on our own Nokia 5800 yet, but once we do we'll bring you more details on the 30.0.011.C02.01 update. Stay tuned!

I upgraded my 5800. No big change . Internet seems to be working faster and applications are opening quickly. no change in camera settings and no kinetic scrolling. Bit swifter than before

  • Phil

Mine is not updating – I’m in the UK – anyone else getting that? I’m using the Nokia Software Updater, and it says “Your software is already up to date” with firmware which I think was from May 2009.

Will my Nokia Software Updater pick it up soon? Is its release being delayed in the UK? Any advice?

    Phil

  • Paul

I’m in the UK and my 5800 updated over WiFi without any problems directly on the phone. I did not use the Nokia Software Updater.

  • Kevin

I tried updating on the phone and comes back saying, No update available. Current software version 21.0.025

  • Mikey Bee

The update hasn’t come to my Nokia 5800 either yet and have been trying since last night – as soon as we get something positive on this, we’ll update the story.

It’s worth bearing in mind that updates are often by factory code not region, so some people will get in the UK while others will have to wait….

Not a question about ‘software’ anyone know about gatting the free music downloads. My Nokia 5800 never came with a PIN to access the downloads. Or if it did I cant find it…

  • Fraser

depending which version of the phone you purchased would entitle you to comes with music service. i believe orange 5800 phones had this. o2 did not!

  • Anuraj

    hi ,
ive updated my 5800 to verson 30.0.011 just now
its no big change but the phone seems a bit faster and the home screen buttons have changed again

  • Mark

mine is the o2 nokia 5800, this came with 10 music downloads via a code
still no firmware update from 21.0.025 though as yet

  • Kevin

Thanks guys, I got mine through Virgin, so I guess no free Downloads :-(
    Still no update either.

  • Prashant

I have just updated my 5800 to version 30.0.011 just now – Be prepared to be disappointed if you were expecting a big change in the functions. The only difference it has is – the applications are a bit faster than previous.

Updated my 5800 to the latest firmware, new Chinese Dictionary added.

The 5800 is a BIG BAG OF POO. The 1st one i had the screen went after 6months. even after updating to ver21 software. got a replacement handset after nokia uk DIDN\’T fix, but upgraded the software which i already did…

The 2nd handset now, and the txt message sending is sooooooooooo slow!! the Alarm only works when it wants to, when it does, when you put on snooze it never goes off again. should the alarm decide to go off, if you try an \’turn off\’ the mobile freezes and only after continuingly removing the battery might the problem be resloved..

utter rubbish… on such a high spec phone.

  • Sanjay

Hey guys i was able to update over the wifi to the latest one starting with 30.blah.blah.blah… its working faster…for once it feels better to have a wifi and run the phone on it!

  • Kevin

Are you guys that have updated in the UK ??

  • http://na anis

hello i am anis i just wana know which software version comes by default in nokia 5800 is it v20 v21 or v22 however i know the newest is v30 pls respond thanks alot

  • fessy

to update your 5800 to the newest soft ware 30. do not use the nokia pc software updater.. if its coming from the nokia website then it will tell you the laterst version is 21.

if you want the 30. only use the phone’s software updater directly from the phone -> options -> settings.. phone -> phone managemnt -> device update -. and then press options on the lower left corner -> check for update !

of course you need wifi or other to connect to the internet..

not sure if all 5800′s do this.. but im in the middle east.. and on nokia website it does not show that 30. is the latest.. but when using directly my phone’s update check.. it gives me the 30. available..

    good luck

  • fessy

anis.. it depends what time you purchersed your 5800.. if it was dec/jan you would have gotten version 10.

feb-april you would get version 20. on your 5800

    april-jully version 21.

jully 29- current you would get version 30.

  • fessy

there is something anoying about the new software update version 30.

whenever i open folders for photos.. it takes a while to think.. and then a messege apears for a short time saying.. not enough memory close some applications.. the messege goes away and the photos/photo albums open !

i would if im the only one who’s expreincing that..

usually it says that when i have no appliactions open or what so ever !

  • ThOmX

Hi. Do you know is taht update available in the uk ?? pls let me know thx

  • aL

i have upgraded mine just a while ago using wifi.. mine was entitled version 30.0.011.C03.01. Im here in the Philippines. I can\’t find any major changes. I really looking forward to that kinetic scrolling and improved home screen.

    A Waste Of Time
    Dont Update ur Phone
U Will Be Just wasting Time And Energy
    No New Features
Even When u play Music and press the red button it does not show the track’s name on the home screen!!!

  • amr

when i bought my phone i was hopin it would be at least the same as the iphone which i love but cant buy cuz i dont live in the us,……but after using it for like 3 months now and using the iphone for a year before, i got to know for sure that 5800 is a stupid phone RUBBISH its slow, not a use friendly, lots of problems and has a mind of its own…so dont buy it, buy the iphone!!
comparing 5800 to the iphone is like comparing a lada to a ferrari (if u know what i mean)

  • Alvin

Updated my 5800 to the latest firmware, new Chinese Dictionary added cant get rid of it

  • Salahuddin

So disappointed to see that there is still no home media app in the latest firmware 30, due to which m unable to use my shared files on home network… isn’t it too sad, coz even 3 years older n95 supported it, but the latest 5800 still doesnot

  • mike

is the updates to the server depends when you got the phone? i got my 5800 about 2weeks ago, i was hoping i could already update the firmware to v30, but every time i check via OTA or NSU i says no updates available? by the way i am from Philippines, can anyone help me on this?

  • Furao

OT: I recently had to configure an Iphone to sync with exchange mails,
when trying things like this you will rethink your Lada to Ferrari comment
What a f***** piece of s**** that Iphone is
No error messages, just \"it doesnt work\" wtf?
No log files, no way of debugging, no access to the battery (and yes even the Iphone freezes at certain occasions)
What a crap. And it costs double the price of the 5800.
Only way to recover from a serious Iphone crash is to restore via iTunes but then all your settings and installed apps are gone.
The Nokia is far from beeing perfect but for tec savvy people the Iphone is just of no use.
It was so made to be user friendly that there is no room for solving problems, seems that Apple assumed that their phone wont have problems at any moment.

    Back to topic :)
Did the update today, nothing specially remarkable this time, will see if that solves my menu color switching problem now :)

Is there any available update here in Jeddah, KSA? or any of you guys who lives in jeddah, KSA already update your phones firmware?

  • kyle edge

basically i just want to say, my 5800 has never experienced problems, i have all updates that were published, and iphones are s**t for many a reason, 5800′s are fairly priced and can have sooo many things on them, depends what you like, and what you want is normally free, you just have to find the right download. anyone who has something bad to say about this phone is a moron, if you dont like it, then create your own mobile, because i bet you can’t beat it!

Have just loaded 31.2.101.263.04 to my Nokia 5800 for the US market. Product code 0577454. 128 MB worth of update. It installed smoothly. I haven’t noticed any feature deflation, a common problem with N78 updates. I didn’t have to restore anything, all of my calendar, contacts, applications, etc. remained intact.

  • Nokia 5800

I have both Iphone and 5800. I recently updated my 5800 to v30.whatever and now it is faster and smoother. I’m lovin’ it. :) And my 5800 have never showed any problems as freezing or slowing down or whatsoever. I like it more than the iphone. Looks better. Very user friendly. I would just like to have kinetic scrolling it.
