Is N-Gage coming to the Nokia 5800?

Nokia 5800N-Gage has brought spectacular games to a selection of Nokia Nseries handsets, but one device that seems almost a perfect fit for gaming still lacks N-Gage capabilities. We're talking about the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, of course, which boasts a huge, crisp 3.2-inch touch display but, as yet, no sign of gaming capabilities. So, could that all be set to change very soon? Read on for our thoughts.

While Nokia has yet to rework N-Gage for touchscreen controls, we reckon it's just a matter of time. Apple has managed to transform the iPhone and iPod touch into formidable gaming devices, with all controls based on motion and touch, so it's not like Nokia would be taking any huge risks by adapting N-Gage to accommodate devices like the 5800.

There's also a lot of pressure from Nokia 5800 users, as shown by this N-Gage feedback forum poll. At the time of writing 7,831 people have voted in favour of N-Gage being brought to the 5800.

There are rumours that Nokia will be adapting N-Gage for its ever-increasing range of touchscreen devices (although the N97 is already compatible with the service thanks to its keypad) but there's no confirmation that anything is in the works as yet.

In the meantime, Nokia 5800 users are missing out on a wealth of gorgeous, thumb-wearing gaming action, including the likes of Dance Fabulous, System Rush: Evolution, Worms World Party and Age of Empires III. That's got to hurt.

    i want ngage for nokia 5800…. when iphone can support touch and motion games even nokia 5800 can support….i know that it doesnot have graphic accelerator….. but they convert it for nokia 5800 with optimum graphic

    I watched some video demo with Ngage on nokia 5800. The graphic response is smooth at all, the only problem is control keys (cracked version need to manually assign control buttons). Hopefully Nokia is really look into the development of N-Gage ‘ touch ‘ :)

    nokia nokia nokia nokiaaaaaaaaaaa………..,i love the nokia 5800 and would be greatful if u put n-gage on it.N-GAGE FOR NOKIA 5800,NOKIA 5800 FOR N-GAGE.it would be a fatal mistake if u dnt make n-gage for my nokia 5800.my friends with iphones are bullying me n it hurts to find me begging to ply games on their phones coz mine is boring.please we kindly request nokia to put n-gage on 5800 as it will add on the market.

    For those that say will it run smootly the answer is yes. There is already emulators on the nokia 5800 that allow for us to play n gage not going to say for obvuios reasons i’m waiting for n gage to release for the nokia 5800 i am pretty sure its possible as people have n gage already on some 5800 devises and it runs smoothly but i would rather wait for it to be officially released on nokia 5800 its possible 100% its just a matter of time.. im a big fan of keeping things official anyway.
