The Nokia 5800 was the first touchscreen S60 device from Nokia and was launched at the start of the year and was designed to be a robust mainstream device. It’s a solid and well built handset that comes with a cracking music player and 3.2-Megapixel camera onboard, a 3.2-inch screen with a 640 x 320-pixel resolution. What really impresses us about this smartphone is the audio quality and the video playback. The Nokia 5800 costs £220 (inc. VAT) SIM free from Nokia Online, or can be bought on contract free from as little as £25 a month.

The Nokia 5530 XpressMusic takes its look from the Nokia 5800 but it's a slimmer and slighter device that lacks the distinctive curve. The screen has been dropped to a 2.9-inch display with a 640 x 360-pixel resolution. The memory has dropped to a mere 70MB but you'll find a 4GB microSD card in the box. The camera still has a 3.2-Megapixel rating but you'll find the flash has dropped down to a single LED, so not as good in low-light conditions.
The Nokia 5530 XpressMusic costs £235 (inc. VAT) SIM free from Nokia Online, or can be bought from Carphone Warehouse for £129 (inc. VAT) o Pre-Pay, or on contract FREE from as little as £15 a month for an 18 month contract.
