Nokia N97 FirmwareNokia has just posted a bunch of updates for the Nokia N97 on its Software Update News page. While some people have already been able to get the latest updates for to Nokia N97 Firmware, versions 12.0.024/12.1.024/12.2.024 have now been posted and hopefully will solve update issues others have been having.

Nokia Software Update News has just posted that three different updates for the Nokia N97 have now gone online. The Nokia N97 Firmware Version 12.0.024/12.1.024/12.2.024 updates should help solve the vast problem of update issues people have been having as these updates include improvements in the updating software using your device. Other improvements include an adjustment to the size of the browser cache, to save space.

How to update your Nokia firmware

This release also includes an updated Nokia Ovi Store application. Also, Mail for Exchange has updates available from the device's software updates application, and other widgets have updates available through Ovi Store.

To get this software through your device, select Applications > SW Updates and choose the software you want to update.

This software release is available through the Nokia Software Updater (NSU). The Nokia N97 has User Data Preservation (UDP) so you’ll be able to carry out the Nokia N97 Firmware v12.0.024/12.1.024/12.2.024 update without needing to backup your device. However, we always suggest that it’s a good idea to make a quick backup before you carry out any forms of update.

Please note this update is (apparently) not applicable to the Australian version of the N97. I’ve just wasted 20 minutes trying to find out why my device wouldn’t upgrade.
    Thanks a lot Nok Nok

@Colin, It was applicable to my N97 that I brought from Vodafone Australia, I don’t know what your problem is. Thanks for the news NokNok!

As with all Nokia updates it isn’t by territory, it’s by batch number – found in the battery compartment of your phone. As you can see from our screengrab above, I’ve had the update and I’m in the UK. Hopefully, you guys waiting will get the update later today?

I am a UK N97 (Product code 0585162) user and after the long wait for the last firmware update I this time decided to change the phones product code. You can now change the product code useing NSS (Nemesis Service Suite) it takes less than 5 minutes and means you won’t have to wait for Nokia UK to realese firmware 12 or any future update…PLEASE NOTE THIS PROCEDURE WILL INVALIDATE YOUR WARRANTY…

    First go to: http://kuapp.com/2009/07/02/how-to-change-product-code-on-n97-or-nokia-5800.html

and follow the “How to” guide ( when you install NSS choose the “Vertual USB Device” option.

    IMPORTANT!
If you have the N97 BLACK change product code to 0570817

If you have the N97 WHITE change poduct code to 0576350

PLEASE NOTE YOU DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!! I AM NOT TELLING YOU TO DO THIS! ONLY THAT THIS IS AN OPTION!!
THIS WILL ALSO DEBRAND YOUR N97!!

Robin B – Thank you, worked like a charm. For others who are have yet to try this. If it seems like the device has frozen after the update just restart and try again

  • Robin B

No problem Bhalal Jhader, I’m glad it helped and I hope now you are enjoying firmware v2.0 :)
