The Nokia X6 was recently announced and will be the first device to bear the Nokia X Series name. It's a re-branding and re-invention of the XpressMusic range. In many ways it's a natural successor to the super-selling Nokia 5800 but how do these two media marvels stack up against each other? We thought it was time for Nokia X6 v Nokia 5800 stat clash...
The thing you need to know about the Nokia X6 is that it could well be the best looking Nokia multimedia phone yet. There, we've said it, we're not biassed at all as we're still huge fans of the Nokia 5800 but we do like the cut of the Nokia X6's jib and can't wait until it's released!
In the meantime, we thought we'd see how it stacks up against everyone's current favourite media touchscreen phone, in a stat clash we call Nokia X6 v Nokia 5800!
Screen: Both the Nokia 5800 and Nokia X6 share a similarity in the size and resolution of screen. Both has a 3.2-inch touchscreen display with 640 x 360 pixels and 16:9 aspect ratios. However, where they differ is that while the Nokia 5800 uses a resistive display, the Nokia X6 is the first capacitive touchscreen to be released by Nokia.

Size & weight: The Nokia 5800 is a great design and one that has been built for the mass-market. Measuring 111 x 52 x 16mm it feels great in the hand and has an overall weight of 109g. In many respects, the Nokia X6 may take many of its initial stylings from the Nokia 5800 but the new design brings with it a slightly slimmer device at 111 x 51 x 14mm but interestingly, it's actually a little heavier at 122g. A lot of this weight is down to the use of a capacitive touchscreen.

Processor: When it comes to processing power, you'll find that the Nokia X6 shares the same processor as the Nokia 5800 (and the Nokia N97 and Nokia N97 mini for that matter). This is the ARM 11 CPU, which has a clock speed of 434MHz, so we can expect apps to load as quickly and smoothly as they do on current generation of devices.

Memory: If the Nokia 5800 has one major flaw, then it would be the lack of internal memory, Sure, you can always add 16GB of storage space using the microSD slot – as you'll be able to do with the Nokia X6. However, with just 81MB of memory for apps and updates, you need to store all your media on memory cards. This won't be an issue with the Nokia X6 as it packs in a whopping 32GB of internal storage, putting it in the same league as the Nokia N97.
Camera: The Nokia 5800 comes with a pretty smooth camera in the form of a 3.2-Megapixel CCD with Carl Zeiss optics with dual-LED Flash. We've found it a great camera for most occasions. However, the Nokia X6 shows its high-end ambitions once again as you'll find it packs in a 5-Megapixel auto-focus camera with Carl Zeiss optics and dual-LED Flash.
There we have it, the stat clash we've been waiting for and it looks like the Nokia 5800 may well have finally met its match. The Nokia X6 looks like being the music smartphone to take the high-end user into a new decade. The Nokia X6 has an estimated price of £400 (inc. VAT) and will launch later this year
