However, at its heart if the new Maemo 5 operating system, and the Nokia N900 will be the first Nokia device to sport it. The Guys over at Maemo Guru have put together an amazing list of the Top Ten Features of the Nokia N900 and it's well worth checking out the full list. For us, the highlights of this list are that the Nokia N900 is ideal for 'Live Multitasking', so you'll be able to open more than one app and have them running concurrently.

Then there is the 'Panoramic Homescreen', which allows you to have four different Homescreens, so you can have your Contacts on one, widgets and apps on another and generally keep your professional and personal life separate.

However, it's the messaging and email support that will really make the Nokia N900 indispensable. So, we'll see standard SMS and Instant Messaging (IM) integrated for the first time, as well as constant live updates on the availability of your Contacts, which if you're constantly on the go is a great bonus. The Nokia N900 is coming to the UK sooner than anyone thought, as Nokia Online UK has already put a pre-order page in place. What’s more, the Nokia N900 pre-order price for a SIM free Nokia N900 is set at £499 (inc. VAT), which is pretty much bang on the money for what was announced yesterday.

It’s great that Nokia finally came up with a IPhone Killer but what good is it in the U.S.A. when you can only use it with T Mobile and not AT&T or Verizon, what a shame on Nokia’s part to especially leave out AT&T’s frequency in the N900

  • 3xL

att and verizon are both garbage so yea…and there are MANY iphone killer out there already…the fanboys just haven’t accepted it yet

  • Charlie

    Matt-

My understanding is that The 900 can be used on any carrier..not just T mobile. Is this correct? I have listened to some blog, and they have not announce a carrier that I know to date. The n900 does seem to have it all though, and agree on this lock-up of the carriers problem.

  • Aaron

    Charlie–

It can be used on any GSM carrier. However, it only has the hardware to support European and T-Mobile US 3G, not AT&T. And no, it will not work on any CDMA carrier, unless Nokia decides to make a CDMA version of the phone.

This is great, now all I have to do is grow some nice pointy thumb nails to use it as easily as that.

    So hate sausage fingers.

    @Will
    haha funny.
i think the screen wiil not match to iphone

  • Justin

Its possibly going to replace my N97, I’m still not convinced by the resistive touch, its pretty garbage unless you’re a woman with long nails. Why can’t Nokia just implement a capacative touch screen, you look like a douche having to whip out a stylus just to use the touch functions

I really don’t see what you guys are talking about (the people who says that resistive touch is garbage HAIL TO CAPACITIVE TOUCHSCREENS… I use my n97 without any trouble at all and no I am not a woman and I don’t have long nails.. Yes, I agree the screen is not like the iPhone.. but it’s fully usable and easy to use (at least for me).. Yes sure, I had a bit of problem when I first got the N97.. but I got used to it extremely fast (same with the spacebar on the keyboard).. And I haven’t used the stylus at all.. I tried it one time but never really used it because I need it..

And @Will if you want a capacitive touchscreen Nokia you should maybe look at the Nokia X6.. :D

According to the review in my-Symbian, the N900 is a quad-band (1800/1900/850/900) GSM and tri-band (1700/2100/900) WCDMA phone. If you buy it unlocked you should be able to use it on just about any carrier.

\"i think the screen wiil not match to iphone\"

Well personally I pretty much prefer to have a screen with twice the resolution compared to the one iphone screen.
Also the multi tasking feature and 4 times the RAM in the N900 leaves the iphone somewhere waaay back in the stacks since it´s kinda lame not to be able to use the \"amazing apps\" on the iphone more then one at a time basis :P
Feels pretty \"a few years back\" tech if you ask anyone.
Guess the iphone vs N900 goes under the \"mac vs PC\" category.

If you are into lifestyle positioning tech go iphone, if you are into tomorrows multifunctional tech and dont want to be a slave under limitations then go for Nokia N900.

    Simple as that.

I’ve tried this phone out – in Helsinki. People worried about the screen shouldn’t be – it just as sensitive as the Iphone. It could have used an extra row of keys, but it looks good. The UI is functional without being over flashy like the LG BL40, and the raw processing power of the 600Mhz processor along with 256MB RAM and 32GB storage is what the N97 should have been from the start. Also Maemo, being open ended, will be brilliant. Check out the various experiments on Youtube done already by geeks with too much time and a N900 in their hands. It will launch on October 19th.

People who have the N97 .. is it hard downloading apps on to this phone?? I’m thinking of getting the N900 but have been told it’s difficult downloading apps on to it… Can anyone help me out? I;m not into high-tech phones but having seen the N900 I really want to get it.. If any of you have any ideas about the phone do you think you could give me a few pointers.. thanks :)

i think the nokia N900 is one of the most useless phones ever nokia has produced..they didnt take their time to assemble the fon..the functions are outrageous…they are bent on competing with the 1phone which they cant…i luv nokia but i feel they could have done better..i got my fon only 4 mths ago but currenty its condemed,,,its frozen,,the touch screen is rather aggravatin the whole situation…the chargin systems..its worst…pls nokia do sumfin abt this,,every 6 hrs u hav to charge or u cant use the fon…
