Nokia Braille Reader is another great app developed by the buys at Nokia Beta Labs that has been designed to help the visually impaired to make the most of their Nokia handset. The Nokia Beta Labs guys have developed some great apps for the visually impaired, such as Nokia Magnifier, and the arrival of the Nokia Braille Reader shows Nokia's continued support for all phone users,

Nokia Braille Reader has been developed as a joint project between Nokia, Tampere University and the Finnish Federation of the Visually Impaired. It works by allowing SMS access to the blind and visually impaired. It captures received SMS messages and brings them to the foreground for reading using Braille and tactile feedback.

It currently works on a couple of Nokia devices running Symbian S60 5th Edition OS, so can be used with the Nokia 5800, Nokia N97, Nokia 5530 XpressMusic, as well as the upcoming Nokia X6.

Nokia Braille Reader is still in Beta phase, so there may be bugs and Beta Labs is asking anyone who downloads and uses this app to get involved and feedback their experiences.
