The Nokia 5130 XpressMusic is part of the music range of phones from Nokia, so is perfect for use with Nokia Music. At this point, it's not available on Comes With Music, but it's still a good every day phone. Here we take a look at the Nokia 5130 XpressMusic and see what it has to offer the entry-level user...
The Nokia 5130 XpressMusic is very much an entry-level Nokia phone but that doesn't stop it from being a great little handset. The first thing to notice about the Nokia 5130 XpressMusic phone is how compact and robust it feels. Sure, it's a plastic casing, what do you expect for less than £100? That said, we found it to be pretty tough. What's more, the solid feel to the plastic use means it'll stand up to more than the average amount of damage.
The phone itself is built around a 2-inch screen that uses a standard 320 x 240-pixel resolution. With an overall weight of 88g, it's a great size to carry around in your pocket. Running the Series 40 OS, we found this a quick and easy phone to use. Being a music phone, there are dedicated music buttons on the side of the phone. They work well enough but you won't find them as robust as those on the Nokia 5310 XpressMusic.
Sadly, with only 30MB of internal memory, you'll need to rely on the microSD slot for expansion. That said, a 1GB card in supplied in the box. The 2-Megpixel camera is very entry-level standard these days but it works well and viewing back on the screen shows how usable it is. Additional features include RDS Radio, Opera mini browser and Bluetooth.
What we like about the Nokia 5130 XpressMusic is the battery life, which offers well over 15 hours of music on the go. It also has a decent talk-time, making this a decent all-round entry-level phone. You can choose from a Red, which we checked out, to a Fresh Blue colour, which is even brighter. When it comes to comparing the Nokia 5130 XpressMusic with other phones, you'll find this handset is very much in line with the Nokia 5220 XpressMusic, only more compact, rather than the more expensive Nokia 5310 XpressMusic.
Still, it's a nice little handset and worth checking out if you're on a tight budget. You can buy it in the UK at Nokia Online for £95 (inc. VAT)
