Nokia and Adobe evoke apps avalanche with the Open Screen ProjectFor anyone who has a long memory and can think back to May 2008, then you may recall the Open Screen Project,  Nokia and Adobe’s $10 million collaboration. The basic idea behind the joint venture was to help developers create new and engaging Flash-based applications for the Nokia platform. Since then there have been a lot of developers feverishly working away and now with over 35 winning applications put forward by the developers, it looks like many will soon be available on the Ovi Store. If you can’t wait until then, we have some video footage of two of these new Flash-based applications in action...

The first is a Twitter based app called, Twittle. Now, as we all know, Twitter apps are rather common - there’s about a million for the iPhone and Android platform alone.

However, this one has a few quirks that separate it from the pack. For instance, you have the ability to manage multiple Twitter accounts, view multiple Twitter feeds, as well as bookmark your favourite feeds for later reference - and all from the comfort of your Nokia Device.

The second application, MyFestival Guide is a serious bit of social networking kit. Not only is it an interactive map for one the biggest, and best, festivals in Europe, the Roskilde Festival. It also provides you with information regarding the lineup, what’s going on around you while you’re there, and where abouts your friends are. Additionally, it even allows you to send messages directly to the big festival screens, and will help you find your way home.

We can’t wait to get our hands on this plethora of new applications that should be with us very soon. For updates and news on when you’ll be able to get your hands on these apps, watch this space...
