The Nokia X6: Top Five reasons to get excitedThe Nokia X6 takes everything we know and love about Nokia’s premier music device, the Nokia 5800, and re-invents it in a smaller, slightly more metallic package. We're still waiting for an official release date but that doesn't stop us getting excited about what we know is coming. Check out our Top Five reasons to get excited about the Nokia X6 and see if you agree...

There are so many reasons to get excited about the Nokia X6 - it’s one of the best looking smartphones Nokia has ever produced, it has huge storage capabilities, ships with Comes With Music, and even has a large 3.2-inch bright nHD screen, making it a perfect all round media station.

There is one certainty about the Nokia X6 and that is that we expect to see it before Christmas. So far, there has bee no actual news on an official release date. Nevertheless, some online rumours have suggested that it maybe with us as early as the 12th November.

In the meantime, here’s our top five reasons why we’re getting excited about the release of the Nokia X6:

Display: Granted, touchscreen devices are relatively common these days, and therefore don’t usually warrant a mention. However, the Nokia X6 is one of the first Nokia devices to use a 3.2-inch TFT capacitive nHD touchscreen in favour of its usual resistive approach, which promises a much friendlier tactile user experience, and obviously, there’s no need for a stylus.

Music: The Nokia X6 ships with Comes With Music, Nokia’s musical subscription software, which means you can download, literally, millions of tracks from the Nokia Music Store. Fortunately, because the Nokia X6 has huge on board storage capabilities of 32GB, and up to 35 hours of playback, it means you’ll be able to download, listen, and find new artists until your heart’s content.

Additionally, another feature that we like is the ability to set certain ‘moods’ for when you listen to you’re music. For instance, if you want some fast, heavy music, you simply slide up the darker bar and it generates music to fit your mood, which certainly adds a twist to the conventional shuffle mode.

User Interface: The Nokia X6 features some neat little design tweaks as well, such as the ability to have 20 of your favourite contacts - complete with profile picture - saved to you home screen, allowing you to quickly mail, email, call, or RSS them.

Additional tit-bits worth a mention are the built in accelerometer, handwriting recognition and a proximity sensor which automatically puts the screen on standby when you’re taking a call.

Mobile Connectivity: The Nokia X6 also sports advanced connectivity with Wi-Fi and HSDPA capabilities, as well as EDGE, GPRS and HSCSD, which means you’ll always be able to get online, where ever you are.

However, what we’re really excited about is actually viewing content on its 3.2-inch HD screen, which has been optimised for both photographs and video, making it perfect for browsing data rich sites such as YouTube and Flickr.

Design: As we said, the Nokia X6 is one of the best looking devices Nokia have ever produced. Couple this with its metallic-rim finish, angular shape, and the fact that it’s significantly smaller than its predecessor, the Nokia 5800, and you can see why we’re a tad excited about the arrival of the Nokia X6.

All in all, we have some seriously high expectations for this device, which does look set to make a good impression once it lands, judging by the preliminary reviews it’s received.

What do you think, are you looking forward to getting your hands on it as much as us? Let us know in the Comments below.

From what I have been reading there has been mixed reviews of this device. I certainly like what I have seen so far. Although I would have liked to see an ARM Cortex-A8 instead of the ARM11 processor in this handset. I will not make up my mind to buy until a month or two after it has been released to here what the actual users are saying.
