Nokia 6710 Navigator The Nokia 6710 Navigator is the third dedicated sat-nav device from Nokia in the ‘Navigator’ range and builds on the solid foundation of previous releases. We’ve been testing it out for the couple of days, so check out our Nokia 6710 Navigator first impressions and see how we’re getting on…

The Nokia 6710 Navigator is an attractive handset that has a really nice feel to it. The body has a slight curve at the bottom edge, so that the mic is as close to your mouth as possible when you speak. It also gives the phone a more tactile feel than more squared-off devices.

With an overall weight of 117g, the Nokia 6710 Navigator is quite a chunky device but the slider means the keypad is nicely tucked away. So far, we’ve found the numeric keypad to be good – as the keys are large and easy to use.

The 2.6-inch screen is sharp and bright and we’ve had no problems using it for every day tasks. However, it’s not the most ideal size for use with Nokia Maps, as some of the information looks rather cramped. With this in mind, we’ve used the audio controls, which has worked out surprisingly well.

Below this is a neat D-pad and button arrangement that responds surprisingly well and are all of a good size. That said, the dedicated sat-nav button is rather small and tricky to access. Once loaded, we’ve found making the most of the built-in sat-nav has been easy.

So, far we’ve been impressed with what the Nokia 6710 Navigator has to offer. Battery life has proven to be rather average for a Nokia device, with the sat-nav being an obvious draw on resources. Apps tend to load quickly and while we’ve not had a chance to properly check out the camera yet, we’re expecting great results from the 5-Megapixel snapper with Carl Zeiss optics.

You can order the Nokia 6710 Navigator from Nokia Online for the sum of £299 (inc. VAT) SIM free.
