Good Things, the Ovi Maps update, which enables users to add their own POIs and write ups of events, places and attractions launches on the 23rd October 2009. With this in mind, we thought we’d run down of our top five events we’ll hopefully be attending in the coming weeks. However, even if we don’t manage to get there maybe you could, as they’ll be on Good Things for all to see. Read on after the jump to see our seasonal recommendations...
Good Thing for Ovi Maps is coming, allowing you to directly flag up and share with others cool places to visit. So far, we’ve been quite impressed with what we’ve heard about Good Things, and it’s certainly a welcomed addition to Ovi Maps, which if we’re honest, has been in desperate need of something like this for a long time.
Check out how Good Things works
With that in mind, we thought we'd flag up some of the events and places we're looking forward to making the most of in the next few weeks. Will any of these make it on to your Good Things signpost?
Release The Bats - ATP Halloween Party: All Tomorrows Parties, or ATP, is thought to be one of the finest music festivals in the country. So, why not spend Halloween at the mini-version of ATP in Kentish Town, where you can get dressed up, let your hair down, and listen to some seriously good music in the form of Deerhoof, Black Lips, F*ck Buttons, and Deerhunter.
Lewes Bonfire: If you’ve ever been to Lewes Bonfire, you’ll know its quite a big deal - particularly to the locals. If you haven’t then it is definitely worth having a look at as it's one hell of a show. Nevertheless, Lewes Council don’t want outsiders there, so if you do decide to go, don’t tell them you heard about it from us...
Bond Street Christmas Lights: Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without the turning on of lots of lights, and London knows how to do it in style... This years Bond Street festivities take place on the 19th November and will feature carols, hymns, predicted snow, and a Bond girl - what more could you want!
New year’s eve Fireworks, London Eye: You very rarely get something for nothing in London. However, this year’s new year’s eve fireworks display at the London Eye is free, and it’s usually rather impressive, what with all the landmarks, frosty midnight air, and the general all round festive feel. Needless to say, it’s one of the prettiest displays we’ve seen, and is certainly a nice way to see in the new year.
Secret Garden Party 2010: Everybody always goes on about Leeds, Reading and Glastonbury. Granted, the latter is always a safe bet, but if you’re after something a little more intimate and special, then you should be sure to check out Secret Garden Party. Located in the heart of the countryside, it features some amazing artists, activities and is an all round delight of a festival.
