N-Gage: Mega Monsters Review Mega Monsters has stomped its way onto N-Gage bringing with it the option to play a 50ft towering monster with only one thing on its mind - destruction! Find out how much fun can be add by combing a cute animal with a genetic gene splicer and a little mad science after the jump...

Mega Monsters was initially announced last year as an exclusive game for the N-Gage platform and it’s taken until now for the game to finally see the light of day. Essentially, the manages to be something of a culture-clash, mixing cute creatures with the B-Movie menace of ‘When Monsters Attack’.

So, what we get are 50ft Turtles, Rabbits, Pandas and even a domesticated cow chomping, stomping and generally destroying their way through buildings all in the name of mad science.

You can choose from five different animals (Panda, Rabbit, Turtle, Cow or Dog) with each one having different skills and gaming strengths. The idea being that as you work through the levels you’ll be able to improve on these skills by adding extra strength, speed and other similar moves.

To stress this, the game is as much about fun as it is mass destruction, you can also personalise your creature with new clothes and outfits. This is a nice touch as the graphics look great and really put the fun elements of Mega Monsters to the fore. As you play the game from an elevated third-person perspective, you really get a sense and feel for the city you’re destroying.

Everything in the city can be destroyed but as the aim of each level is to root out specific targets and zone in on them, it pays not to get too distracted. The controls are incredibly easy to get to grips with, so don’t go looking for any hidden secret moves or hidden depths to this game as you won’t find any.

The first couple of missions are quite easy – start stomping and destroy six buildings against the clock kind of affairs. However, we’ve been assured there is a learning curve and as your skills improve, so does the difficulty level. The game also includes a sandbox option that allows you to build your own areas for other players to try out. We’ve not tested this part of the game out yet but it sounds interesting.

Mega Monsters is an enjoyable romp that doesn’t need to try too hard to be fun. The mix of giant monsters and simple game play make it an easy game to pick up but a little trickier to actually put down.
