Nokia has announced that it has pushed back the release date of its highly anticipated Maemo powered smartphone, the Nokia N900. While we’ve been treated to a host of promotional videos of late, showing us what the new device is capable of, it looks like we’ll have to wait a little bit longer before we’re finally able to get our hands on the device of the moment. Find out more about the reasons behind the delay after the jump....
According to reports, Nokia wants to gather additional feedback on the device from Maemo developers to ensure everything is above board and functioning before it’s officially released, which is certainly understandable given the gravity surrounding the Nokia N900's release.
Further more, official word from Nokia has confirmed that while the device’s hardware is finalised, they wish to do some more fine-tuning to the Nokia N900’s software before it hits the market.

Pete Schneider, Nokia’s head of Maemo marketing, said, “We are working closely with open source developers and for example, at the Maemo Summit in October, we loaned 300 pre-production units to get more feedback from the community. This feedback is extremely important to us and as such we also want to provide the best user experience with the Nokia N900. We expect it to start shipping during November 2009.”
While this is slightly disappointing, it’s hardly unexpected, as official release dates for the Nokia N900 have been somewhat sketchy for quite some time now. Nevertheless, it looks like we won’t have to wait too much longer anyway, providing Nokia make good on their promise of a November release.
