N-Gage LogoNokia has decided to discontinue is mobile gaming platform, N-Gage. The popular platform, which has seen the release of hundreds of games, will cease to exist by September 2010. Nokia’s mobile gaming responsibilities will be undertaken by its Ovi Store, which is shaping up to be a one stop shop for practically every Nokia based need you might have. With this in mind, we thought we’d do an overview of our top five favorite N-Gage games. Read on after the jump to see what made the cut...

Asphalt: Urban GT

Everybody loves racing games, titles like Burnout, Colin MacRae, and Need For Speed Underground are obviously some of the more will known titles around. However, Asphalt: Urban GT is definitely up there with the best of them. Overall, Asphalt: Urban GT is a straight forward arcade-racer, which harks back to the more classically styled racing games - in short, it’s simple, fast, and a hell of a lot of fun.

The Sims Bustin’ Out

The Sims has been a popular reality-based game for quite some time now, and has featured on a variety of platforms including PC, Game Boy Advanced, and now N-Gage. While the N-Gage version may lack some of the power of the PC based version, it is still a highly addictive and enjoyable game having everything you’d expect from such a title. Overall, the graphics are a little sketchy in parts, but you quickly get used to this as you become more and more immersed in the world of the Sims

Worms World Party

Worms is one of the most well known, and highly respected, turn-based strategy games ever. The game is essentially perfect, and will keep you interested for hours on end, particularly as you can now play online via the N-Gage Arena. While Worms World Party is nothing new, and is essentially the same as other Worms titles, it really doesn’t matter. If it was anything else, or deviated from its classic format, it wouldn’t be Worms and it would lose what makes it special. In short, this is one of our favourite games ever, and its just as good on the N-Gage platform.

Pathway to Glory

Pathway to Glory was created specifically for the N-Gage format, and was designed to cater to the platform’s strengths. And on the whole it succeeds, which makes Pathway to Glory one of the finest games currently available on the N-Gage platform. The game itself is a turn-based World War 2 strategy game, and features enough levels and challenges to keep you engrossed for days. Needless to say, we love this game and have played it for hours and hours without getting bored. Basically, no Nokia device should really be without a copy of Pathway to Glory.

Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Team Stealth Action

Splinter Cell Team Stealth Action attempts to take the usual 3D format of Tom Clancy games, and convert it into a 2D platform-shooter. Fortunately, it worked, and Splinter Cell Team Stealth Action is a brilliant game, which manages to take some of the suspense and atmospheric elements from the 3D based game and transpose them perfectly into the 2D world of Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Team Stealth Action. Again, this is one of the best games on the N-Gage format, and you will have a lot of fun blasting your way through each level - we certainly did!

So, which games have been your favourites on N-Gage? Let us know in the Comments below.

  • Al Pavangkanan

Reset Generation was probably the finest game for N-Gage.

    It never gets old.

  • Ronx2

I agree with Al, reset generation was the best. . .to bad people looked more on names and big titles rather than actual gameplay.
