N-Gage: Tiger Woods PGA Tour review Tiger Woods PGA Tour has come to N-Gage in a fully Symbian supported version that is set to knock socks off the old Java version that has been bouncing around on Ovi Store for a while. How do we know? Well, we've been putting Tiger Woods PGA Tour through its paces, that's how so see how we got on....

Tiger Woods PGA Tour is a huge franchise for EA Games so you're not about to see anything rushed out. So, the slick presentation on Tiger Woods PGA Tour is very much up to scratch.

Weighing in at 6MB, this is no Java version with new screens. No, Tiger Woods PGA Tour is a full N-Gage enabled version that has been ported to the platform. So, what you get from the off are some rather smooth scrolling screens of the green you're about to play.

You can choose to play as Tiger Woods himself or from a number of built-in characters. What's more, in the full version you can choose your own character, with ill-matching attire if you wish.

The graphics look really good and everything moves along at a fair old pace. The controls are fairly simple, as you just need to align your shot and then hold down the D-pad on the Nokia N86 8MP and watch the swing force bar go up. Once you're up to strength – there is an indicator to show you the optimum you need to attain – simply let go and let the shot play out.

Once you get onto the green itself the game switches to putter mode, which doesn't seem as smooth as the fairway shots and getting the angles right can be a little more trial and error. Overall, the game play is decent and considering it's golf, there is a degree of pace to it.

The only thing that truly lets this game down is the sound. While we get music in the opening screens, when you're out on the fairway all is silence except for when you're slicing and dicing. It would have been good to get crowd reaction like you do in some other games, as it does tend to feel a little lonely out there.

So, is Tiger Woods PGA Tour a long walk ruined or is it as equally entertaining as previous PGA Tour games? We really like this version, sure the controls are simple and actually feeling that you're improving is a little hit and miss. However, for a quick blast around the greens, this is one of the better games out there.

You can get a hold of EA Sports: Tiger Woods PGA Tour for £8 for a full license, or try it out for the day for £1.50 right now. You can get a hold of it either from the Showroom on your N-Gage Nokia handset Showroom or from the N-Gage website.
