Nokia has initiated a charger exchange program for three sets of chargers made earlier this year by one of it's third-party suppliers. It would seem the chargers aren't up to snuff and Nokia is looking to offer a free replacement to anyone who is currently using these chargers. Find out more about the Nokia free phone charger exchange after the jump...
Nokia has high quality control levels and is constantly testing the quality not only of its own products but those produced by third-party vendors. It seems that during a routine check potential problems with some third-party chargers have been noted.
The plastic covers of the affected chargers could come loose and separate, exposing the charger's internal components and potentially posing an electrical shock hazard if certain internal components are touched while the charger is plugged into a live socket. Nokia is not aware of any incidents or injuries related to these chargers.
It's worth pointing out that this is a blanket recall, as there are only a couple of charger models affected. So, if you own a charger from the AC-3E and AC-3U models, which were manufactured between June 15, 2009 and August 9, 2009, or have the AC-4U model, manufactured between April 13, 2009 and October 25, 2009, then you need to gte a free replacement from Nokia.
To do this, visit Charger Exchange and get your hands on the free charger.
UPDATE: Nokia has informed us that this program does NOT inlcude the United Kingdom. None of the specific models of chargers within the scope of this program have been sold domestically in United Kingdom. The Charger Exchange Program only applies to a limited number of chargers of certain models and these models have different plugs and pins than are used in United Kingdom.
