The Nokia Booklet 3G landed on our desk at the end of last week (check out our First Impressions), so we've had a couple of days to be thoroughly impressed with this mini-laptop. Weighing in at 1.3kg, packing in a 10.1-inch HD screen and having that aluminium construction, this isn't a run-of-the-mill budget machine but a truly portable device. With that in mind, we thought we'd compare it to a premium netbook, the Samsung N310 to see how it stacks up. Check out how the Nokia Booklet 3G looks next to the Samsung N310 netbook....
Samsung released the N310 netbook as a premium device earlier this year in an attempt to put a bit of value into what is essentially a budget-price market. Nokia has quite clearly stated that the Nokia Booklet 3G isn't a netbook, it's a mini-laptop as it was never intended to get involved in the budget end of the netbook market.
So, how does the Nokia Booklet 3G compare to the Samsung N310? Well, for starters, the design is far more compact, with the aluminium casing giving it strength and an amazing tactile feel. Interestingly, they both share the same weight of 1.3kg, which makes both devices highly portable, but the Nokia Booklet 3G is slimmer and packs in a larger battery cell pack.

There are obvious wins for the Samsung N310, the hard drive is 160GB compared to the Nokia Booklet 3G and its 12og size. Then there is the use of the Intel Atom N270 chip instead of the Intel Atom Z530 on the Nokia Booklet 3G. Both come with 1024MB of memory as standard.
However, the Nokia Booklet 3G clearly wins when it comes to battery life, as you'll be able to get 12 hours from the Nokia Booklet 3G, while the Samsung N310 clocks in at around half that. Then there are the extra features like the HDMI port, GPS built-in and access to the built-in 3G module. What's more, we really like that the Nokia Booklet 3G uses a chiclet keyboard, so you can type with ease and the mouse buttons are much larger.
The Samsung N310 is a neat and stylish premium netbook but the Nokia Booklet 3G is a stunning mini-laptop designed for life on the go!
