IMHO you got your message wrong: this is not the first firmware update, but the initial product release version, e.g. this is the version that will ship with the retail device, PR1.0
The only people who have to update are those who got internal or Amsterdam Summit prototypes.

End users will most probably never need to update their firmware in this way, they will receive OTA (Over-the-air) updates.

Does the n900 come with internet radio and did they fix the mms in the phone?
