The Nokia N97 Mini may have only just hit the stores but it looks like it's being recognised as an important handset in all the right quarter, as it's just won the prestigious Best Mobile Broadband Handset award as part of the Asian Mobile Awards 2009. The GSM Association has announced the winners of this year's Asian Mobile Awards 2009 at the Mobile Asia Congress Networking Party, which was held at Hong Kong’s Happy Valley Racecourse.

The awards cover all aspects of mobile computing, with the likes of Gameloft getting Best Mobile Game for ‘Hero of Sparta’, Geodesic getting Best Mobile Internet Service for‘Mundu IM’. However, what impressed us most is that the Nokia N97 Mini got Best Mobile Broadband Handset.

Now, this has been a big year for smartphones and it's great to the groundwork laid down by the Nokia N97 paying off with its smaller brother hitting the ground running and snatching this award.
