Is there anyone out there who hasn't heard about the Nokia N900? It would seem hard to think so, as this is one of the most discussed, dissected and overall, desired handset out there at the moment. We've been lucky enough to get our hands on one ahead of them hitting the streets. See how we got on with the Nokia N900 with our first impressions review of this tablet...
On first glance it would be hard to see why the Nokia N900 has truly caught the imagination of most people. After all, it's a rather chunky device and the 3.5-inch touchscreen and slide-out QWERTY combo has been done before.

In a lot of respects, the Nokia N900 has a far more industrial feel to it than the Nokia N97 and Nokia N97 Mini, for instance. The keyboard slides out in a rather traditional way, rather than sitting on a spring loaded hinge.
However, fire up the Nokia N900 and start using the Maemo 5 operating system and any feelings about this handset being a little chunky, the screen not quite as advanced as we'd hoped melt away. The Nokia N900 running Maemo makes so much sense and we're glad to see that Nokia thinks so too, moving their N Series over to this platform will truly revitalise the flagship line.
The Nokia N900 review unit we've managed to get out hands on has the final version of the OS and it feels solid and reliable. The screen makes the most of the 800 x 480-pixel resolution, as images look great and really pop. What's more, multi-tasking on this device is great, as you can easily switch between apps without it slowing down or creating any lag.
We've been using the Nokia N900 for a couple of days and we're a lot more impressed with this handset than we thought we were going to be. Nokia has made a great move forward with the Nokia N900 tablet. Over the next few days we'll be testing it out some more and bringing you a full review.
However, all you need to know for now is that the Nokia N900 is a great addition to the Nokia range and is a device we want to see more of!
