Nokia Beta Labs give Point & Find an overhaul It’s nice to know that a smartphone company like Nokia has research labs, and its even better when you get updates from them regularly, especially when they’re doing good stuff, like working on UIs and bar code recognition to improve the overall functionality and user experience of  its Point & Find application. Read on for the most recent news of what’s been cooking over at Nokia Beta Labs.

The big news from Nokia Beta Labs is that they’ve fixed 100 bugs in network connectivity and improved overall stability of the client in the following devices: N82, N95 8GB, N95, E71, E66, N81, N81 8GB, E51, 6220, 6210 Navigator, and the N97. The result, a more snappy and mature client - although, some fixes have had to be postponed.

According to reports, Nokia beta labs are preparing a brand new UI for Nokia touch devices as well as improving the general efficiency of the 1D barcode recognition, which they say, “Isn’t as reliable as we’d like it to be.”

Additionally, beta labs have confirmed that they have developed a new client for the N97, which takes advantage of its touch capabilities and large screen - apparently, it’ll soon be ported over to other devices in the S60 5.0 family.

You can download the client here - pointandfind.nokia.com. According to beta labs, “They’ve grown up,” and to show it they've redesigned the site to give P&F a more mature identity.
