Best Nokia Ovi Store Apps of 2009 It is now official: Applications are an integral part of mobile phones, with the two now being pretty much synonymous with one another - much like tea and biscuits, and cigarettes and alcohol. However, with some many to choose from, how do you know which ones are the best? For this reason we have compiled a list of our top Apps of 2009. Obviously, this isn’t a conclusive list, as there are literally thousands available on the Ovi Store, but these particular ones stood out to us, and we think you might like them too. Read on after the jump for our recommendations for the best Nokia Apps of 2009.

Nimbuzz

Granted, this app has a bizarre name, but don’t let this put you off. Nimbuzz is one of the best IM clients available on the Ovi Store. Once you have Nimbuzz installed you’ll have support for GoogleTalk, Windowslive, Yahoo!, AIM, Myspace, ICQ, Skype, Facebook, Jabber, Giovani and Gadu-Gadu. In addition, Nimbuzz pulls all your contacts together in one place so you can chat to everyone, regardless of which IM they’re on, every time you log-in.

Gravity

Twitter is an essential tool to many, and for this reason, you’ll need a decent Twitter application. For this, look no further than Gravity, which is a fully-fledged Twitter client for the S60 platform. Gravity supports multiple accounts, Twitter Search, Laconica, Ping.FM, as well as posting of pictures via MobyPicture and TwitPic. It is also one of the better looking Twitter clients currently available in the world of applications.

Qik

If you’ve ever contemplated what it would be like to stream video from your mobile phone directly onto the internet, contemplate no more - Qik, does exactly this. Basically, if you see something of interest, simply aim your phone at it, video and it will stream directly onto the internet. Plus, Qik is free so you try it without even having to cut into your finances. We love this app. It’s easy, fun, and actually, quite useful.

AP News

AP News is a news application designed specifically with Nokia smartphones in mind. Once you have AP News installed you will be able to tap into news feeds and interactive galleries, as well as giving you the ability to pass them onto friends with one simple click. In short, this is one hell of a news app, and probably the only one you’ll ever really need.

Speedometer

This application is more interesting than fun, but you’ll be glad you have next time you fly or take a fast-train somewhere as you’ll be able to terrify yourself with how fast you’re actually going. In addition, you can see how slow you walk, what top speed you can achieve running, and how fast your friends drive. Overall, this app doesn’t sound all that fun, but we promise you you’ll be coming back to it time-and-time-again.
