Nokia shows off a great deal of innovations throughout the year and one of the more truly unique of last year was known as Nokia Maps Racing. This novel idea took a number of the Location Based Services that Nokia has been working on – namely tying the GPS in your smartphone together with Ovi Maps to do more than just get you from A to B. It's taken a few months and a name change, but Ovi Maps Racing is now ready to launch Find out all about Ovi Maps Racing after the jump...

Ovi Maps Racing is the result and allows you to create race tracks around your own neighbourhood or just about anywhere in the world. The guys over at Nokia Conversations sum the game up as 'you use the GPS in your device to find your location (or use Ovi Maps to choose any location in the world), then customize a track around your neighborhood, and finally fire up those engines.'

OK, so it's not the most serious uses of sat-nav applications but it shows that when it comes to mapping the world and doing more than finding the nearest Point Of Interest. We've been promised that Ovi Maps Racing will be making an appearance on the Nokia Ovi Store in the coming weeks.
