Nokia Gig Finder App Launched Live music has seen a resurgence in recent times and making sure you have a ticket has become a mission in and of itself. Nokia is hoping to help us gig-goers out with the launch of a new app called, appropriately enough, Gig Finder. This Nokia Beta Labs has been just been launched, so find out how you can get your hands on Nokia Gig Finder after the jump...

'Got any gigs lined up?' is a common enough question, especially in this day and age when you have to but tickets often six months ahead of the date itself. Which is why we're happy to see the launch of Nokia Gig Finder from the Nokia Beta Labs.

Nokia Gig Finder is here for Symbian S60 5th Edition touchscreen devices, such as the Nokia 5800, Nokia 5530 XpressMusic and even the new Nokia 5230.

The app requires you to set your location or choose a town or venue you want to visit. The easy search mode makes it easy to look up by date, location or venue. You can buy tickets directly from the link, as well as check seat options.

Once you've started buying tickets, the app will also make smart recommendations, suggesting other gigs you may like. What's more, each artist also links directly with their profile page on Nokia Music, so as soon as you know they are touring you can check out if they have anew album or not.

Come gig day, you can even find directions and travel info to the gig – ideal if you're travelling to a new venue. What's more, once you've got your tickets you can easily start sharing info on the gig straight to Facebook or MySpace.

Sure, there is plenty of work to be done of the app, for starters it's only available in the US, Canada, UK and Ireland and Beta Labs is looking for your feedback to make it a fully fledge app.

We've downloaded Gig Finder and will be checking it out over the next few days to see if it lives up to expectations.

Didn’t Nokia create something called BandFan just recently? Why did they change the name to Gig Finder. It seems to be the exact same product as Bandfan.

But I thought BandFan was owned by Earthcomber, not Nokia?

    Very confused.

You can still get bandfan from the ovi store http://store.ovi.com/content/7916?clickSource=publisher+channel – and you’re right it is a earthcomber app – let’s see which one proves more useful.

    Greetings Miky:

Did Earthcomber sell its rights to Nokia? I use BandFan and just checked out GigFindr, and indeed shows similarities. Read on Forum Nokia that Earthcomber made Bandfan 4 Nokia and won awards, so how can this be? Nokia prob bought it from Earthcomber, yes? or they are stealing it from under their noses. Why have 2 exact same things. Can phone company take what they like from developers and copy it or is permission needed to do it. Seems to me a bad PR idea. Either promote one or the other, not both. Something screwy.
