Indie Band Vampire Weekend have released their second album, 'Contra', bringing clashing guitars and African pop influences together in one of the freshest sounds around. Vampire Weekend are a Brooklyn based indie-band who mix guitars with a heavy African pop music influence. The band apparently describe their music as "Upper West Side Soweto", we just think it's mighty fine indie.

The 10 track album includes last year's single 'Cousins' as well as current single Horchata. There are still the flashes of Africa but the band has broadened it palette with this album, bringing in diverse sounds such as Puerto Rican reggaeton, Jamaican dancehall, and even Californian ska-punk. There are less guitars clashing but Vampire Weekend still manage to make a richer sound of it all.
