Nokia has been rather quiet on the news front so far this year but it looks like the drought is about to end as we've just has our official invite to a Nokia Ovi press event taking place this Thursday. Now, with Nokia and Ovi linked together in the headline this could well be a software announcement rather than new devices, still it's worth checking out...

Nokia is set to make its first big announcement of 2010 later this week and we'll have ringside seats as our invite to the Nokia Ovi Press Event has just arrived. As we said, with Ovi in the title this looks more like we're in for a software update – could we be about to see Ovi Store 2.0 get its first full outing, or maybe some other Ovi Store service rolled out?

It was hinted at back in December by George Linardos, Nokia’s vice president of product, media that Nokia Ovi Store 2.0 would be making an appearance this year. We didn't think it would be this soon. Then again, maybe we're only being led to believe it is and something new is coming?

Whatever Nokia has up its sleeve, we'll be in attendance to bring you a blow-by-blow account and the latest images. Roll on Thursday 21st January!
