Nokia is set to add a whole host of location-based services and premium guides to the Nokia Ovi Maps user – all for free.
The Lonely Planet Guides, as well as the ever-practical Michelin Guides, will be the first free services to be hit up for Ovi Maps. Combined, they'll be able to hep you discover over 1000 destinations, and thanks to the GPS in your Nokia smartphone, you won't need to tap into the information as it being location aware means it's just there, whenever and wherever you need it.
It's also Ovi Maps that looks set to be making a change as new features will be making an appearance in Ovi Maps over the next few weeks. First up is a weather forecast feature that will be able to tell you what the weather like is in your destination, so you can pack appropriately.
Then there will be an Events Guide, which will give you the best information what is happening in any town or city you're set to visit. This means once you're tired of sight-seeing you can take in a show, or just kick back with a little late-night live jazz.
Share Location is another feature that has popped up in the new Ovi Maps. This uses the Lifecasting for Ovi app that launched in Beta form a couple of months back and allows you to link right through to Facebook to let people know where you are and also keep tabs on their location too.
These are just the first features to be added to Ovi Maps, as Nokia has promised a whole lot more in the coming weeks and months. What's more, all this is now for free!
